SAMUEL DELGADO & HELENA GIRÓN

The filmmaking duo Helena Girón (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and Samuel Delgado (La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain) have collaborated for over a decade, developing a distinctive body of work that explores the intersections of mythology, history and materialism. Their filmography includes numerous short films co-directed by the pair, among them Neither God Nor Santa María (2015) and Burning Mountains that Spew Flame (2016), both selected for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), as well as Plus Ultra (2017), which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. Their debut feature, They Carry Death (2021), premiered at Venice International Critics’ Week before screening at the San Sebastián International Film Festival (Zabaltegi-Tabakalera), where it received a Special Jury Mention. In recent years, they have continued to develop their mythological exploration of the Canary Islands through works such as Bloom (2023), which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and A Hundred-Headed Dragon (2025), which premiered at Visions du Réel.

Beyond filmmaking, they have created installations and performances for leading art institutions including Conde Duque (Madrid), CGAC (Santiago de Compostela), CCCB (Barcelona), BAM (New York), TEA (Tenerife) and Solar – Galeria de Arte Cinemática (Vila do Conde).
